The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Hickory County in central Missouri...
Northern Polk County in southwestern Missouri...
Southeastern St. Clair County in west central Missouri...

* Until 645 AM CDT Sunday.

* At 1235 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hermitage, Humansville, Osceola, Weaubleau, Wheatland, Pittsburg,
Polk, Preston, Cross Timbers, Collins, Flemington, Vista, Gerster,
Elkton, Quincy, Nemo, Harper, Dunnegan, Iconium, Goodson, Pomme de
Terre Lake, Truman Lake and Pomme De Terre State Park.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas, including the following
counties, Bourbon, Cherokee and Crawford and Missouri, including
the following counties, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper,
Laclede, Lawrence, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Polk, Pulaski, St.
Clair, Stone, Texas, Vernon, Webster and Wright.

* WHEN...Until 430 AM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams
continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It
will take several hours for all the water from these storms to
work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 437 AM CDT, Emergency management reported heavy rain in
the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already
occurring. Between 1 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following low water crossings...
Beaver Creek at County Road 524, Bull Creek at Center Road,
Dry Auglaize Creek at Freedom Ridge Road, Beaver Creek at
Crewes Ford Road, Weaubleau Creek at 350 Road, Wilson's Creek
at Old Limey Road and Center Creek at Azalea Drive.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Springfield, Joplin, Pittsburg, Nixa, Ozark, Republic,
Lebanon, Carthage, Neosho, Bolivar, Monett, Nevada, Fort
Scott, Aurora, Marshfield, Battlefield, Waynesville, Mountain
Grove, Mount Vernon, Lamar, Osage Beach, Baxter Springs,
Camdenton, El Dorado Springs, Columbus, Buffalo, Ava, Girard,
Strafford, Warsaw, Stockton, Greenfield, Highlandville,
Hermitage, Webb City, Carl Junction, Willard, Frontenac,

deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 305 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- This includes the following low water crossings...
Whetstone Creek at Owens Road, Osage Fork at Highway J,
Weaubleau Creek at 350 Road, Wolf Creek at Highway AB,
Lindley Creek at Mathis Road, Osage Fork at Auburn Road and
Brush Creek at 1200 Road.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are possible
in the warned area.

...FLOOD ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 6 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

The Flood Advisory will expire at 6 AM CDT early this morning for
portions of central, southwest, and west central Missouri, including
the following areas, in central Missouri, Benton and Hickory. In
southwest Missouri, Polk. In west central Missouri, St. Clair.

The threat for residual flooding will linger over the area through
Sunday. Therefore, the Flood Advisory has been replaced by an Areal
Flood Warning. Please refer to that bulletin for more information.
